Slide Show : A Life Of Service, In Photos : Edward VIII

This was my biological father. If you look at the photos closely, you will notice at ages 12 thru 19--LIKE SOME GHETTO KIDS TODAY--Edward was not yet shoulder-high to his mother--visibly suffering from "failure to thrive," physically undeveloped, scrawny until age twenty-five. That's an outcome of sufficating controls. He did not have his own residence to live in until he was 36 years of age. From 1914 til 1936 he served King George V -- who despised him -- without recompense until they got rid of him : a patsy too Liberal. Yes, he married a Nazi operative; he was a naive man and never suspected til his dying day that his "wife" colluded with George V and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon to get him off the throne. Oh well. Life has its ironies and its whimsy. Emily Windsor-Cragg
