DRES01 : KNIT A WARM & COMFORTABLE DRESS -*- Bust 34-40" Length adjustable at line 3; Sleeves 2.5-3" SOLID COLOR, Textured Bodice. Two weights -- sport yarn or worsted -- are considered. For sport yarn use 20-24 ounces (using Nos. 8 and 10 UK needles or No. 5 and 3 US needles) with extra yarn if you want to lengthen this pattern (where it says, "Work straight until skirt measures 5"," increase length by adding more rows at that point). For worsted, use 22-26 ounces using Nos. 7 and 9 UK needles or Nos. 6 and 4 US needles, to achieve the desired gauge. This pattern is undated, but appears to have come out in the late 1960s. DRES02 : CROCHET A SLEEVELESS DRESS -*- Bust 34-38"; Length 31-3/4" adj. ; Sleeveless Open Pattern Summer Dress -*- Pattern specifies 19-21 25gm balls double-knit and one No. 3-00 (ISR) crochet hook; and one button. Instructions will also be included for altering and lengthening crochet patterns since hems are much longer now than they were in the late 60s and early 70s. Most of us want a longer skirt. The list of materials needed, instructions, pictures and size changes are color-printed and slipped into a washable cover. This pattern is from the UK in the late 1960s. Two pages in one cover.

Shown here as an exquisite bridal coat, the same pattern would make an evening coat if it were knitted in a deep rich burgundy or teal. By carrying the buttonloop fastening down to the hem, the coat (in cream-color or oyster) makes an elegant coast-dress for evening occasions. The hood of course is optional and can be left off, leaving a mandarin collar. Pattern requires 28-31oz of 4-ply wool or silk yarn, one pair No. 10 needles, one crochet hook and 70 pearls, as shown.
